The park is open seven days a week from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm local time. Even though the park gets its name from the wild bear, there are no known bears in the area so you can rest assured that all visits to the park and safe.
Bear Creek Park is a great place to hang out with family and friends. The park has plenty of parking for visitors and boasts ample things to do. There are over 20 miles of walking trails, aviaries, and plenty of playgrounds for the kids. If you are a sports fan, there are also baseball, softball and soccer fields scattered throughout the park. Bear Creek Pioneers Park also has a host of other attractions as well including tennis courts, paved walking trails and over 100 picnic gazebos for use.
Small Zoo Inside of Park
One of the most visited attractions at the park is the small zoo. Over a half mile in length, the zoo hosts a variety of animals and birds inside of structures and fenced enclosures. There are ostriches, buffalo, pigs, sheep, and emus. There is also cockatoo, owls, eagles, and ducks. There is a feeding pond just beyond the bird cages where you can feed the ducks if you bring food. Last, there is a small reptile exhibit at the top of the hill opposite of where the birds are housed.
Just inside the entrance to the park off of Eldridge you will find the Harris County War Memorial. They erected the memorial in 1985 to honor the known residents of Harris County who lost their lives in World War I and the wars since that time. They hold services for honored war veterans every memorial day at 2:00pm
